A local SEO checklist for businesses in Nepal
The unglamorous list that decides whether people in Kathmandu find you on a phone: your profile, your pages, your speed, and your reviews.

Local search is won on details that nobody enjoys doing. None of this is clever. All of it matters more than another blog post about keywords.
Start with the profile, not the website
For a huge share of local searches, your Google Business Profile is the result. Complete every field, pick the right primary category, add real photos of the actual place, and keep the hours accurate through festivals. An abandoned profile outranks nothing.
Make the name, address, and phone identical everywhere
Your profile, your website footer, your Facebook page, and any directory listing should carry byte identical details. +977 9843468715 in one place and 9843468715 in another is a small inconsistency that quietly weakens the signal.
Give each location a real page
A page per city only works if the page says something specific about that city. Duplicated text with the place name swapped is worse than not having the page. If you cannot write three genuinely local paragraphs, do not make the page.
Speed is a local ranking factor on mobile
Most local searches happen on a mid range Android phone on mobile data. Compress your images, serve modern formats, and set explicit dimensions so nothing jumps while loading.
<!-- Always set width and height. It costs nothing and prevents layout shift. -->

height="1200"
loading="lazy"
decoding="async"
/>Add LocalBusiness structured data
Structured data will not rank you on its own, but it removes ambiguity about who and where you are, which matters when an answer engine is deciding what to quote.
Ask for reviews, properly
- Ask in person, at the moment the customer is happy, not by bulk SMS a month later.
- Send the direct review link. Every extra tap loses people.
- Reply to all of them, including the bad ones, without arguing.
- Never buy reviews. It is detectable and the cleanup costs more than the reviews did.
Work through this list before paying anyone for a monthly retainer. Half of local SEO is admin you can do yourself, and the other half is easier once the admin is done. If you want help with the rest, see SEO services in Nepal.
